Best Practices in AAC Assessment: Steps to Selecting Appropriate Communication Systems
Friday, December 11, 2026
Live Webinar
Registration Opening Soon – When a child isn’t speaking or when speech doesn’t meet all of his or her communication needs across environments, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) may be appropriate. However, there are literally hundreds of apps, speech generating devices, low-tech, and no-tech strategies available to help children who are unable to communicate effectively using their speech. Selection of an inappropriate system can lead to limited success or in some cases, system abandonment. How does one ensure selection of an appropriate communication system? With a feature-matching AAC assessment!
Communication Partner Instruction in AAC: SMoRRES® and Partner-Augmented Input (Levels 1 & 2)
Friday & Saturday, February 19-20, 2027
Live Webinar
Registration Opening Soon – Evidence-based research supports the use of partner-augmented input (PAI), also known as aided language modeling, as an intervention strategy for individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). There are multiple benefits of modeling AAC use, but how can this be done effectively across a child’s many environments? All of a child’s communication partners must be taught how to model on the child’s speech generating device (SGD) to create an immersion environment for learning the new language!
